Top 5 Pitchers:
1) Spencer Schwellenbach (ATL) 99-99-99
Schwellenbach led the league after Week 1, and that continues through Week 2. His second week was more average with just one appearance for a 52 Game Score. The game did result in a Braves’ win. He allowed his first run of the season. That single run came on a home run.
2) Hunter Greene (CIN) 98-98-98
While Schwellenbach allowed his first run of the season, Hunter Greene had his first appearance without a run last week. Greene threw 8 2/3 scoreless innings at San Francisco. He walked one and struck out seven.
3) Freddy Peralta (MIL) 95-97-97
Freddy Peralta’s lone start in Week 2 came at Colorado. Now, the Rockies are not a good team, but they do play in a hitter’s ballpark. It took him 80 pitches to get through five innings, but he allowed just three hits and struck out 6.
4) Nick Pivetta (SD) 97-94-97
Pivetta had two starts in Week 2. The first was a start he would like to forget about. It was a 36GS outing in Chicago against a quality Cubs team, going just three innings and allowing three runs. He bounced back in his second outing with an 80GS outing in an 8-0 win at home over the Rockies. Pivetta accumulated ten strikeouts in that game.
5) Nathan Eovaldi (TEX) 93-97-95
Nathan Eovaldi had his worst start of the young season, posting a 46GS at the Chicago Cubs. Notice a common theme here? The best starters in the league are struggling against the Cubs. Eovaldi allowed three runs in 4 2/3 innings and threw 87 pitches.
The rest of the best:
6) Jesus Lazardo (PHI) 95-95-95
7) Logan Gilbert (SEA) 94-95-95
8) Kris Bubic (KC) 96-92-94
9) Chris Bassitt (TOR) 97-91-94
10) Yoshinobu Yamamoto (LAD) 91-95-93
Top 5 Starting Rotations
1) Toronto Blue Jays - Chris Bassitt (94) and Kevin Gausman (91) lead the way.
2) Cincinnati Reds - Hunter Greene (98) and Nick Lodolo (92) help the Reds to second in the majors, even with the recent drop of Brady Singer (79).
3) Philadelphia Phillies - Jesus Lazardo (95) overtakes Zack Wheeler (83) as the best on the team.
4) Houston Astros - Hunter Brown (91) and Framer Valdez (88) help Houston to fourth.
5) Kansas City Royals - Kris Bubic (94) and Cole Ragans (82) are the only two lefties in the rotation and have started better than any of the righties.
